In the town of Elektrostal in the Moscow Region heating has finally been restored. Almost 39,000 people were left without heat when the city's main central heating system failed on Friday.
The temperature in the region dropped to minus 20 degrees centigrade overnight.
The failure occurred in the early hours of Friday when an electrical power surge damaged equipment in the local boiler house.
It quickly started to work again but staff later discovered a leak in the system.
Repair work is now complete and heating restored to homes.
