8 dead in Moldovan plane crash
Seven bodies of the crew of the An-32 that crashed at Chisinau airport in Moldova have been recovered. All eight people on board died. Two flight recorders have also been found and are being examined to determine the cause of the crash.
Emergencies Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Oprya says investigators are starting work on the flight recorders.
“A joint commission that includes both the representatives of the national aviation department and an IATA expert, is investigating what could have caused the crash. The flight recorders have been extracted and we’ll start working at them today. We are still working our way through the debris,” Oprya said.
The plane, belonging to a Sudanese airline, crashed and burst into flames as it was attempting to make an emergency landing, minutes after take-off.
The eight-member crew consisted of three Moldovans and five Ukrainian citizens.
