Policemen attacked in Russia’s south

Several gunmen opened fire on a police post in Makhachkala, the capital of Russia’s republic of Dagestan, late on Thursday.

Police say there were no casualties or injuries among them.

Security forces have surrounded up to four alleged militants who hid themselves in a home in the city.

One of the attackers has been possibly been shot, according to reports.

A counter-terrorist operation has begun in the district where the attack took place.
