Policemen killed in shootout with Chechen militants
Five policemen have been killed and seven more injured in a shootout with militants in Russia’s Southern Republic of Chechnya.
The incident occurred on Thursday. Policemen on a reconnaissance mission discovered a group of 15 militants, who put up resistance.
“The militants attempted to break out of the encirclement and there was a shootout between them and the policemen,” Itar-Tass quotes a source in the republic’s Interior Ministry.
