Chavez takes his country 'back in time'

Chavez takes his country 'back in time'

Starting on Monday Venezuela is putting its clock half-an-hour backward. The move setting the country into a GMT -4.30 time zone is meant to ensure a ‘more equitable distribution of sunlight’, as president Hugo Chavez put it.

This is the latest in a number of changes introduced by the Venezuelan leader.

Back in 1999 he changed the official name of his country and made several changes to the national banner.
