Beware! Fake caviar hits shelves
Moscow police have confiscated a large store of poor quality caviar from one of the city's markets. The stash is thought to be worth over $US 120,000.
All up, 18 kilogrammes of caviar and more than three tonnes of sturgeon were confiscated.
Tests showed the goods are not fit for eating and should, by law, be destroyed.
Russia is one of the world's leading producers of caviar, selling over seven tonnes a year. In Europe, a kilogramme of caviar costs up to 6,000 Euros, or over $US 9000.
