Knights-in-armor cross swords in Russia

Fans of medieval martial arts have gathered near Tula in central Russia for a knightly tournament.

On Sunday, enthusiasts from Tula, Moscow and St Petersburg history reenactment clubs crossed their (wisely dulled) swords, maces and halberds in 5x5 team fights.

Opponents did their best to down as many enemy warriors as possible over several minutes. The skirmishes resulted in some bloody noses and a lot of testosterone-hyped contestants.

While the bold and furious dented each other’s plate armor suits, other visitors had their chance to participate in archery contests and a theatrical show.
