Expert tells RT which country Trump could target after Greenland

Expert tells RT which country Trump could target after Greenland

US President Donald Trump could set his sights on Iceland if he succeeds in acquiring Greenland, a military expert has told RT.

This month, Trump renewed his push to take control of the autonomous Danish island, which holds a strategic position in the North Atlantic and has untapped natural resources.

This followed the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in a military operation that the Trump administration framed as securing access to Venezuela’s oil reserves while denying access to America’s adversaries.

The American “imperial engine” will continue seeking new targets as long as coercion by force proves effective, former US Army officer and military commentator Stanislav Krapivnik said in an RT interview on Tuesday.

“When the US gets Greenland, it’s not going to be satisfied,” he said, suggesting that Iceland may be next.

“Iceland has rare-earth minerals. It has aluminum… And it has a huge amount of geothermal energy that Trump’s backers need for their data centers that they want to build. It’s a huge cheap energy source – localized energy source, of course.”

Krapivnik also dismissed Trump’s claim that US sovereignty over Greenland is needed to prevent China or Russia from seizing it militarily, calling the idea “as ludicrous as China or Russia seizing the Moon, at least anytime soon.”
