A little boy from northeastern India has become an unlikely viral hero this week after accidentally running over his neighbor’s chicken. The story has already captured the public imagination in his home country.
Wracked with guilt after inadvertently injuring the chicken while cycling his bike on the streets of Sairang in the state of Mizoram, the unnamed boy rushed to a nearby hospital with whatever money he could scrounge together in a desperate attempt to save the chicken’s life.
A photo purportedly of the child, chicken and cash in hand has gone viral online, amassing over 100,000 reactions, 73,000 shares and close to 7,000 comments since it was posted on Tuesday, attracting national media attention in the process.
