The "Army of Victory" train has reached its final destination in Russia’s Far East city of Vladivostok. The train left Moscow on April 20 and has went through the whole country as part of the military-patriotic events commemorating the 71st anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

The delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation headed by Russia’s General Stuff Chief Valery Gerasimov has laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Alexander Gardens in Moscow to commemorate Soviet soldiers fallen in WWII.

Reporting from the heart of Paris, RT’s correspondent Harry Fear takes a look at France’s official ceremony celebrating the victory over Nazi Germany.

On the eve of Victory Day, a book of 35 heartbreaking Soviet children’s diaries written during the war have been translated into English and published by Argumenti i Fakty (Arguments and Facts). The book, containing the memories found both in the museum and family archives, provides an unbiased children’s eye view of the events of that time.

The Magues, the French couple who handed over their family WWII medals to the relatives of a Russian hero, killed by Islamic State (IS, ISIS/ISIL) militants during a military operation in Syria, have been invited to the Victory Day Parade, which is to take place on Moscow’s Red Square on May 9. The spouses will take part in the Immortal Regiment march afterward as well, they said.

A crowd has gathered on Bastille Square in Paris to take part in the Immortal Regiment march. The people are moving to the Père Lachaise Cemetery to commemorate their relatives who fought in WWII. The parade will end with a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial to the Soviet members of the French resistance. 

Hundreds took to the streets of Manhattan, New York, as part of an Immortal Regiment march to commemorate their relatives who took part in World War II. A huge crowd of predominantly Russian-Americans held up pictures of their family members while singing patriotic wartime songs. RT’s Caleb Maupin live streamed the event on Periscope.

In Toronto, Canada, similar celebrations are expected to be held on Sunday, with around 3,000 participants expected to march with veterans in the city’s North York district, which has a strong Russian community.

Dozens of people took part in the Victory Day motor rally and Immortal Regiment march in Brisbane, Saturday. Commemorators marched through the city holding banners and pictures of their relatives. 

This is the view from some of the helicopters taking part in the practice parade ahead of Victory Day on May 9. Mi-26’s and Mi-8’s are amongst those taking part. 

Russia’s Air Force took part in its final preparations for the Victory Day Parade. Helicopters and warplanes could be seen flying over the center of the Moscow as the Russian military gets ready to mark the 71st anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in WWII. 

Preparations are in full swing for the Russian military, with T-14 Armata tanks and Topol missile carriers rumbling through the center of Moscow, as they undertake their final rehearsal for the Victory Day parade, which will take place on May 9 on Red Square to mark the 71st anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in WWII.
