RT India to kick off TV broadcast operations on December 5

RT India will officially launch its TV broadcast from a state-of-the-art media studio in Delhi on December 5.

The Moscow-based global TV news network will roll out four daily news programs in English and aims to boost traditional ties between India and Russia as well as the countries’ growing influence in a multipolar world.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to arrive in India on December 4 where he will have a two-day summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

RT India has also released a multi-episode program titled ‘Imperial Receipts’ on British colonialism, featuring Shashi Tharoor, the chairman of the Indian Parliament’s Committee on External Affairs, ahead of the launch.

RT’s English-language international channel is already available in the packages of 18 major Indian operators, with a combined potential audience of 675 million viewers.

RT also has a news-sharing pact with Doordarshan, run by Indian public broadcaster Prasar Bharti.

RT India unveiled an advertisement blitz across the country in November to introduce the news channel in a campaign titled ‘A new voice from an old friend’.

The ad campaign of RT India reflected the shared perspectives of the India-Russia partnership. It was rolled out at 65 prime locations across key business, cultural and diplomatic districts, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

RT also unveiled a special Indo-Russian installation on the Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line – from Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Center, Gurugram, covering 37 stations and over 47km, as part of its ad blitz.
