Russia aims to top global electricity market by 2018
Within a decade the newly privatised Russian electricity market will become the most effective in the world, according to the head of the country’s power monopoly.
At a ceremony suspending the shares of RAO UES on the Moscow Stock Exchange, Anatoly Chubais added that in terms of transparency and capacity the sector is already among the global top three.
“We have just one or two competitors in the world in terms of the quality of our electricity market,” he said. “I hope that in 10 years we will be number one. It’s very simple.”
