​MOSCOW, APRIL 9 2014 – RT has become a 2014 Gold medalist at the esteemed New York Festivals Television and Film Awards, beating CNN for the award in the Documentary category. The network also took two bronze medals. The award ceremony was held in Las Vegas at NAB Show on April 8, 2014.

RT’s documentary Blood and Honor was awarded the Gold World Medal in the Human Concerns category among Documentary / Information Program productions. Fellow nominees included CNN, as well as other international networks.

Blood and Honor is a documentary feature shot by RT’s Leonid Kanfer and Pavel Baidikov. The film tells the story of the mountain people of the Caucasus and their traditions, focusing on the ancient practice of blood feud and its role in today’s Chechnya and Ingushetia.

An episode of RT’sTechnology Update program was awarded a Bronze World Medal in the Science and Technology category. The segment explores new industrial applications for nuclear energy. And aseriesof promotional videos from RT Spanish titled Noticias Desde Dentro received another Bronze in the News Promotion category.

RT has been a New York Festivals laureate several times in the past. Last year The Julian Assange Show received the top prize in the Politics category among Documentary / Information Programs. The talk show featured the founder of WikiLeaks interviewing some of the most prominent and influential individuals whose work helps shape the contemporary global agenda.
