Only 18% of Americans approve of Congress

The US congressional approval rating has dipped below 20 percent yet again, down from 23 percent in February.

A Gallop Poll released March 11 indicated a mere 18 percent of Americans approve of the job their congress is doing. Results indicated independents are the most displeased with their leaders – just 15 percent of those identified as independent approve of Congress, a decline of 7 percent since February. At the moment twenty percent of Democrats and Republicans approve of the job their legislators are doing. Typically, congressional approval ratings approve in the first few months of a new congress. Past large shifts in legislative power have shown marked increases. That does not seem to be the case this time around and most Americans continue to remain concerned.
