‘US media puts American society into a cocoon’

There are a handful of media companies in the US that tend to have one commitment: not to inform the people and serve the public, but to allow their shareholders to make money.

Media is a commercial product that does not have the goal of illuminating society, or strengthening democracy and people’s knowledge, but to just have people watching TV to stick around for the commercials.

As a result, the American people are getting a certain amount of information regarding news events that tends to divide the world on an "us and them” basis, insists the award winning documentary filmmaker, blogger, journalist, and media critic Danny Schechter in an exclusive interview to RT.
