Blunder reveals American nuclear sites

The Federal government has mistakenly released detailed information about hundreds of its civilian nuclear sites and programs.

Among many things the 266-page report showed were the precise locations of stockpiles of fuel for nuclear weapons.

The report – part of a campaign to make its nuclear complex more open – was prepared by the presidential administration for consideration by the US Congress.

David Albright, president of the Institute for Science and International Security, told the New York Times that the information could “provide thieves or terrorists inside information that could help them seize the material.”

However, Dr. Thomas Cochran from the Natural Resources Defense Council played down the scale of the blunder.
