“ABM in Europe is a future problem”

The American anti-missile system could pose some threat to Russia-US relations, but only in the future, notes John Isaacs, Executive Director at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation.

“The missile that the US has talked about deploying in Poland and the Czech Republic has neither been built, much less tested. It is several years away from any possible deployment.”

Isaacs recalls that “President Obama has said he will deploy the missile defence system if it is cost-effective and works. These are very important distinctions: “cost effective” and “it works” as there are many years before anything could be deployed.”
