Democrats and Republicans have agreed to keep the government funded for two more months, approving a continuing resolution in back-to-back Senate and House votes. President Joe Biden signed the bill shortly before the deadline.
The US Senate approved the temporary funding measure with 65 votes in favor and 35 opposed. The House voted 254-175, with a large majority of Republicans voting against the legislation.
The US fiscal year begins on October 1, and President Biden signed the bill just hours before the midnight deadline.
