A large fire has broken out across a row of stores in the Fordham area of the Bronx in New York City. The blaze took hold at East 194th Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to local news reports.

Pictures from the scene show firefighters attempting to douse the flames from aerial ladders. At least eight stores are thought to have been burned while at least four blocks are filled with emergency vehicles.

So far, no injuries have been reported although the fire is not yet thought to have been brought under control. Three fire units have been deployed to the scene.

The incident follows another major fire in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx in December last year. Twelve people were killed and six more injured when a fire broke out on the ground floor of a five-story apartment building. Three children were among the dead.
