Police have detained the suspect in the shooting at Central Michigan University's residence hall in Mt. Pleasant. The incident left two people dead.

“The suspect was seen and reported by an individual on a train passing through the north end of campus shortly after midnight. Law enforcement personnel responded and arrested the suspect without incident,” Central Michigan University said in a statement on Saturday.

More than 100 officers have been involved in the search for the 19-year-old suspect since Friday morning, when he killed his father and mother at the university campus. He was identified as James Eric Davis and was considered “armed and dangerous.” He was at large for more than 12 hours after the incident.

The incident comes two weeks after the mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida in which 17 people were killed.

Central Michigan University is located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan and has more than 20,000 students on its Mount Pleasant campus.
