A huge police presence remained at a law firm in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, California, after a shooter killed one person and injured another before turning his gun on himself.

The Long Beach Police Department described the area as a "very active crime scene" hours after the shooting incident ended just before 3:00pm local time. The suspect and a victim are dead, police said. Officers did not encounter an active shooter, officials said, implying that the suspect committed suicide.

A second victim was wounded and drove himself to a hospital before police arrived. The shooter and both victims were male employees of the law firm.

Police searched the law firm where the shooting occurred and also checked a satellite office elsewhere in Long Beach. A stretch of Long Beach Boulevard has been shut down, while both directions of Carson Street have been closed as well.
