A fugitive in California brought police on a near two-hour car chase which only ended when his car got stuck in the sand. The suspect ran into the Pacific Ocean before police arrested him at gunpoint.
The pursuit began in Southern San Luis Obispo County, California, when cops spotted the male suspect driving a white Lexus and gave chase at about 2:30pm on Tuesday afternoon.
Approximately four minutes later, according to the police report, deputies gave up the chase for safety reasons.
Just over an hour later, police again spotted the car and picked up the pursuit.
The suspect lead them on a highway chase, eventually ending up on Oceano Dunes state beach, at which point State Park Rangers picked up the pursuit on the beach at speeds of approximately 40 miles an hour.
A few minutes later, the suspect’s vehicle got stuck in the sand, at which point he jumped out of the car and ran into the ocean. It was there the chase ended and 38-year-old Joshua Anthony Jordan was taken into custody at gunpoint.
Already wanted in two counties for making criminal threats and for a parole violation, Jordan now faces additional felony charges of willful cruelty to a child with possible injury or death, because families and children were playing on the beach.
He also faces a felony charge of evading a peace officer in a reckless manner.
