Right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has been escorted away from a protest in Cleveland, Ohio after he crashed the Stand Together Against Trump parade, which he called a “commi rally.”
International Workers of the World activists chanted, “Off our streets, Nazi scum,” before the tussle broke out.
The InfoWars group crashed a rally of the Industrial Workers of the World, better known as the Wobblies.
Jones and the protesters then fought before law enforcement intervened. Both sides blamed each other for starting the fracas.
State police rushed Jones away from the crowd of protesters and into an unmarked vehicle, the Atlantic’s Yoni Appelbaum tweeted.
Scuffles also appear to have broken out between the Ku Klux Klan, Westboro Baptist Church, the Black Lives Matter movement and other groups, according to the police scanner. Cleveland police requested an additional 100 troopers to Public Square.
“Be advised, they’re throwing urine,” an officer said on the scanner. Protesters have also loaded squirt guns with urine.
