Five more swipes! Clinton has run-in with subway turnstile days after Sanders token gaffe (VIDEO)

Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, the front-runner in the Democratic Party’s nomination race, fell at the first turnstile while trying to prove herself an ordinary commuter, repeatedly failing to swipe through on her NYC subway card.

The Hillary had a frustrating experience at a Bronx subway station on Thursday, swiping her metro card in vain four times with a gaggle of journalists snapping each attempt. The fifth time was the charm for Clinton, however, as she persevered and finally made it through the breach.

The incident was quickly jumped on by social media users, who have been mocking the former secretary of state’s attempts to relate to everyday commuters.

Despite the fumble and blundered photo-op, the presidential candidate is at least aware that a pass is required to ride the rails.

Last week, Clinton’s White House rival Bernie Sanders, usually keen to play the “everyman,” embarrassingly stated that tokens were still used on the New York subway.

The New York native told NY Daily News reporters last Friday that he had taken the subway “about a year ago.”

But his story was then somewhat derailed, however, when he let it slip that he believed that tokens – discontinued more than a decade ago – were needed to get on.
