“Wives must submit to their husbands” – US Pastor blames feminism for destroying America

A Tennessee pastor told his congregation that wives should submit to their husbands as the “husband is the head of the wife.”

He blamed “feminist rebellion” for America’s troubles and criticized the female mayor of Houston.

To critics, Pastor Ashley E. Ray of Ridgeway Baptist Church showed that misogyny is still alive and kicking in Christian America as he explained to church goers the divine hierarchy in marriages.

Ray used the book of Ephesians to get his message across during his sermon.

"Wives submit to your own husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church."

He went on to back this up with a quote from the book of Timothy.

"I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence."

It appeared his request was met as the congregation, which included a number of women, appeared to remain silent during his anti-feminist rant.

Online, however, the silence has been broken.

Ray didn’t stop there, though, and continued by blaming women for all the problems in the world.

“When the lady led the human race fell”, he proclaimed, referencing the story of Adam and Eve.

He also scoffed at the Mayor of Houston Annise Parker’s endeavors for equal rights and was disgusted by her plans for the abolishment of male and female restrooms.

While the pastor remains set on keeping US Christian women in their place, Sweden is making strides on ensuring that feminist ideology is a core part of young women’s education.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s essay “We should all be feminists,” based on the Ted talk of the same name, is set to be distributed to all Swedish high school students.

It's an act Pastor Ray would say is contributing to the world’s problems. After all, according to the preacher, the “feminist rebellion” is where it all started.
