No one for Biden to speak to in Georgia

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili understands that he cannot rely on Washington as an ally that will support him in any case, says Irina Kobrinskaya from the Institute of World Economy and International Relations.

“Vice President Joe Biden is in a difficult situation. Of course he will meet with the legitimate president of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili. The next election is not soon, but the situation in the country is very complicated, the economic situation is simply bad. But the worst thing about Georgia for Georgia itself and the US or any partner is that the Georgian opposition is deconsolidated and there is no leader with whom to talk to. That is why in talking to the opposition Biden will have to look for the best.”
