The Georgian President has resigned from his post in order to start campaigning for early election. Aslan Abashidze from Moscow's University of International Relations spoke to RT about Georgia’s latest political developments.

“Four years ago Saakashvili and his team came into power in a coup-d'etat. With the help of the mass-media and independent TV channels, like Imedi, they got the support of population. Then, some of these independent mass media and TV channels became obstacles to their regime. We all saw the result. Imedi was closed because it showed everything that was happening in Georgia. This shows that now in Georgia we have nothing in common with democracy. There is dictatorship,” Abashidze stated.
