Moldova's Central Election Commission has officially confirmed the Communist Party won the country's parliamentary elections.

The commission announced on Tuesday that the result remains the same with the Communists winning the seats with 49.48 percent, which gives them 60 parliamentary seats of 101 in the Moldovan parliament.

The recount was called by Moldovan president and the leader of the Communist party Vladimir Voronin after violent riots had broken out in the country with opposition groups claiming the results for the elections of April 5 were rigged.
