The holiday celebrations in Russia begin on New Year’s Eve and generally run through Orthodox Christmas on January 7.
Decorating Christmas trees remains a ritual of family bonding in Russia as New Year’s Eve celebrations remain largely unchanged since the Soviet era. While USSR-era toys and ornaments are a source of nostalgia for older generations and are often passed down within families, it is increasingly younger enthusiasts who are seeking out vintage decorations dating back 50 or even 100 years.
