Crime is soaring in America because we're letting it – to appease progressives

Giving criminals concessions like setting bail money low and handing out lenient sentences only encourages more crime – which is why the United States is seeing a record rise in murders and the widespread looting of shops.

Don’t worry, folks. Once again, a Hollywood actor and an associate professor of criminal justice have solutions to our country’s problems. Well, solutions that work for them. Whether they work for you doesn’t seem to be as important, either to them or the elites who run our country, who only want to appease some sections of society in order to get elected.

When complaining to his two million followers about LA becoming a “crime-riddled 3rd-world sh**hole of a city” after his cars were broken into, YouTube idol Casey Neistat got a reply from comic actor Seth Rogan telling Casey he was “crazy” for being upset. LA, said Rogan, is a “lovely” city. Problem solved.

“Dude, I’ve lived here for over 20 years. You’re nuts haha,” Rogan tweeted, explaining that his cars had been broken into “15 or so” times. “It’s lovely here. Don’t leave anything valuable in [the car]. It’s called living in a big city.”

Ha ha! Theft is so funny and lovely when you’re super-rich.

The problem with Rogan’s solution for those of us not insulated in the well-off, liberal, Hollyweird Democratic bubble, of course, is that we used to have a solution for crime that once worked quite well. As Neistat pointed out in his original tweet, that solution was cops.

“[T]remendous appreciation and gratitude to the hardworking officers at the @LAPDWestLA who not only arrested the motherf***er but they got all of our stolen goods back,” tweeted the YouTuber.

But cops, along with criminals being imprisoned, deterrent bail amounts being set, the enforcing of broken-window laws, use of stop-and-frisk and other staples that used to keep us safe, are now all tactics that are out of step with the Democratic liberal elite. Instead, these progressives are only interested in appeasing a certain class of criminals who believe that “every cop is a criminal and all the sinners saints.”

It’s time to admit that the Democrats’ attempts at appeasing the criminal class in our country have ended in the same predictable failure as Neville Chamberlain’s attempt to appease Hitler with territory he didn’t own.

Chamberlain’s attempts simply emboldened Hitler and made him more aggressive, just as the Democrats’ attempts today to deal with criminals have created ever more aggressive mini-Hitlers in all corners of our society, making greater and greater demands on the rest of us.

These mini-Hitlers are people who use phony racial and social grievances on behalf of a so-called oppressed minority to extort yet more appeasement measures. The result? A disaster.

Not only is America reeling from a crime wave that has seen organized criminal gangs wielding hammers and crowbars knocking off high-end boutiques in smash-and-grab raids, but there’s also been a rise in even more violent crime.

“Provisional data from the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics, released early Wednesday,” said public broadcaster WTTW in October, “suggest the homicide rate for the United States rose 30% between 2019 and 2020. It is the highest increase recorded in modern history.”

Yet despite the failure of these policies, we are still called upon to appease criminals, as if this will somehow solve matters. A so-called ‘expert’ cautioned recently that we shouldn’t call smash-and-grabbers “looters” because it’s offensive and racist.

“Looting is a term that we typically use when people of color or urban dwellers are doing something,” said Lorenzo Boyd, a professor of criminal justice and community policing at the University of New Haven, Connecticut.

The only people who could possibly be offended by calling criminals looters are the law-abiding folks who stay home and, well, obey the laws. And they’re more likely to be offended that guys like Boyd think they’ll be offended when we call a looter a looter.

Call criminals what you will, but it’s better to take action against them than it is to debate the nomenclature you use to describe them, presumably in a quest to patch up their poor low-esteem.

We’ve been taken in by the appeasement efforts of the Democrats, who demand higher and higher sacrifices to their gods, while their mini-Hitlers complain, demand, and throw fits.

And it’s not just the criminals who act like this. The entire progressive pantheon does the same, emboldened by the liberal egg-breaking they know will never restore Humpty Dumpty, or the cops, to their place on our social wall.

Progressive interest groups such as the LGBTQ+ community, and healthcare and economic socialists, have all upped both their rhetoric and their actions as the liberals rush to try to appease them by banning some things, approving others, eschewing old words and substituting other, more acceptable ones.

We were told that if we just appeased gay people with gay marriage, or passed Obamacare to take care of medico-socialists, or reduced bail for low-income criminals, that life would be better, and the progressive gods would be happy.

But we wake up in a world where, amid a rising murder rate, we’re told we must do more to reduce bail for the likes of the Waukesha killer, accused of a litany of serious crimes, or be counted as white supremacists.

We wake up in a world where it’s not enough for gays to marry, but they must also co-opt a Christian holiday, with Daddy kissing Santa Claus, to help mercantilists sell more crap in an effort to celebrate gayness as a holiday virtue.

We wake up in a world where medico-socialists say people who aren’t vaccinated against Covid should be denied the healthcare that everyone else gets as standard.

The appeasement of progressives has clearly failed. We should send these mini-Hitlers packing.
