US President Donald Trump will visit Japanese PM Shinzo Abe at the end of May, to continue trade negotiations between the two countries, “including steps that will strengthen our bilateral trade and investment relationship” as well as the regional Indo-Pacific economy, and to discuss the ongoing effort to “achieve final, fully verified denuclearization” in North Korea, according to a White House statement released Thursday. The meetings will take place from May 25 to 28. Abe plans to visit Trump in the US later this month, while Trump has another planned trip to Japan in June, for the G-20 summit in Osaka.
