Putin offers condolences to Italian president over tragic consequences of Genoa bridge collapse

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to Italian President Sergio Mattarella expressing the deepest condolences over the tragic consequences of the collapse of the bridge near the city of Genoa, the Kremlin press service said. Putin “conveyed words of sincere sympathy and support to all families and loved ones of the victims, and wished a speedy recovery to everyone injured,” it said. At least 22 people were killed on Tuesday, when a motorway bridge collapsed near the city of Genoa. There were about 20 cars on the bridge at the moment of the collapse. A nearly 100-meter-long section of the bridge collapsed on the buildings below, TASS said.
