An air-to-air missile was fired “accidentally” by a Spanish fighter jet during a NATO training mission, triggering a fire at the impact site in Jogeva County in central Estonia, the country’s officials said Thursday. Estonia’s defense forces said that the “AMRAAM-type missile” was launched by a Spanish Eurofighter Typhoon 2000 near the village of Pangodi in the Tartu district on Tuesday night. The missile flew around 80km, and fire was detected deep in a peat bog where the missile supposedly made landfall, according to rescuers. Authorities reportedly began to extinguish the fire on Wednesday evening, while also helping the military in search of missile fragments.
