The move comes amid a worsening diplomatic row between Ottawa and Riyadh, which recalled its ambassador and gave the Canadian one 24 hours to leave after Canada’s criticism of the kingdom’s treatment of human rights activists. Riyadh maintains that Canada has interfered with its internal affairs and has been freezing cooperation in areas including trade and education.
