Nine Thailand provinces hit by flood and Mekong River overflow

Heavy rains and overflow from the Mekong River caused flooding that has affected nine provinces in the northeastern part of Thailand, Bangkok Post reports citing the local disaster prevention authority. Hardest hit was Nakhon Phanom province, where water from the Mekong River affected over 12,000 households with almost 27,000 people. In nearby provinces, thousands of hectares of farmland were also damaged.
