Israel fires ‘David’s Sling’ interceptors at rockets launched within Syria

Israel launched its “David’s Sling” air defense system on Monday as a precaution against rockets fired within neighboring Syria. Military sounded air defense sirens in Israel’s northern regions near the Syrian and Lebanese borders after the rockets fell inside the Syrian territory and were part of internal fighting. A military statement did not elaborate on whether they had been shot down by the two interceptors launched by David’s Sling, Reuters said. The mid-range Israeli system is jointly manufactured by US firm Raytheon. Israeli officials have said they worry that Syria may try to defy a 1974 demilitarization deal on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, Reuters reported.
