At least 30 Afghan soldiers killed in clashes with Taliban in northern Afghanistan

Thirty Afghan National Army (ANA) troops were killed and 10 more were injured in clashes with Taliban in Dasht-i-Archi district of Kunduz province, near the border with Tajikistan, Pajhwok reported on Thursday, citing officials. Fifty Taliban fighters were also killed in the attack. The militants attacked security forces bases and check-posts on Wednesday night, seizing weapons belonging to the Afghan forces. Clashes are ongoing, the provincial council chief, Mohammad Yousuf Ayubi, told Pajhwok. The government launched air and ground operations to repulse the attacks and reinforcements are to be dispatched soon, according to the official.
