French President Emmanuel Macron called in Lagos on Wednesday for Africa and Europe to reach a “win-win” solution to migration. During an address to 300 young entrepreneurs on the second day of his visit to Nigeria, he said that the continents share a “common destiny.” The sustainable answer is not just security, Macron said, adding that people were leaving peaceful countries including Senegal, Ivory Coast and Nigeria because of “a lack of hope, a lack of opportunities.” The president said that “these people, given the magnitude of this wave, cannot be accepted, at least, not all of them,” AFP reports. “We need more Africans to succeed in Africa,” Macron said.
