King Abdullah II of Jordan believes that relations with Russia contribute to peace in the Middle East, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said on Wednesday. The minister made the statement at a meeting with Russia’s top diplomat Sergey Lavrov in Moscow. Safadi cited the discussion of the situation in southern Syria, which “requires a political settlement and understanding that it is necessary to save civilian lives.” The situation in southern Syria is “very complex,” the Jordanian minister said. “We want to find a solution to the problems that have accumulated there and put an end to people’s suffering. This is a very important area,” TASS quoted Safadi as saying.
