Disgraced movie mogul and accused rapist Harvey Weinstein has been charged with three new felonies, ahead of his upcoming criminal trial, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office announced on Monday. The charges –one criminal sexual act and two counts of predatory sexual assault– will be added to his existing charges, of first and third degree rape, and an existing criminal sexual act charge. Predatory sexual assault carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. “This indictment is the result of the extraordinary courage exhibited by the survivors who have come forward,” read a statement from District Attorney Cyrus Vance. “Our investigation continues,” Vance added.
