Colombians are heading to the polls to choose a new leader for the first time since a highly controversial peace deal with the communist rebel group FARC. Signed in 2016, the agreement was narrowly rejected in a referendum, and a revised version was subsequently adopted. The main contenders for the president’s office are Senator Ivan Duque, who is highly critical of the deal, and Gustavo Petro, the mayor of the country’s capital, who supports it.
