The European Union will decide whether to extend economic sanctions against Russia at its summit on June 28-29, TASS reported on Thursday, citing a source in the EU Council. It is thought that the EU Council will formally approve the extension after the political decision is taken. The decision will be made at the summit, “followed by actual decision in several days,” the source said. Then it will be published and come into effect. “Recent discussions were short and I do not expect a long discussion this time,” the source added. The EU imposed several sanctions packages against Moscow over Ukraine, including economic sanctions and individual restrictions.
