French President Emmanuel Macron has condemned the violence in Gaza during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to the Elysee Palace. "He expressed his very deep concern about the situation in Gaza, condemned the violence and underlined the importance of protecting civilian populations and of the right to protest peacefully," it said in a statement. The call came just one day after 60 Palestinians were killed in protests against the relocation of the US Embassy to Jerusalem, most of whom died from Israeli sniper fire. Children were among the fatalities, including an eight-month-old baby who died after inhaling Israeli tear gas.
