A delegation of the Syrian armed opposition has arrived in Astana to take part in international talks on resolving the Syrian crisis, Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Anuar Zhainakov told reporters on Tuesday. The delegation includes 24 people led by Ahmad Toma, a member of the joint negotiations committee formed after consultations between opposition groups, which took place in Riyadh in 2017, TASS reports. The ninth round of talks on Syria started in Kazakhstan’s capital on May 14. The participants will discuss the situation in Syria’s de-escalation zones, humanitarian issues, confidence-building measures, and ways to advance the peaceful settlement process.
