Afghanistan’s army said on Thursday that it had regained control over Bilchiragh district in Faryab province. The district in north-western Afghanistan was captured by Taliban fighters two days ago. The area was recaptured early in the morning, the military said, adding that 22 terrorists were killed, including three local commanders, during the operation. On Tuesday afternoon, the militants attacked security-forces outposts in the district. Officials in Gerzwan district in Faryab said that the area, which shares a border with Bilchiragh, was also on the verge of collapse.
