Malaysian opposition unexpectedly wins national elections, ending decades-long Malay Party rule

An opposition alliance has claimed a historic victory in the national parliamentary elections for the first time since Malaysia gained its independence. The National Front party, which has ruled the country for 60 years, lost the elections for the first time. According to the Election Commission, the opposition has so far won 112 seats, while the National Front has secured 76 seats, AP reports.
