Russia's Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu held talks on Friday with the commander of the Libyan National Army, Marshal Khalifa Haftar. The talks were held during a video conference call, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The two military chiefs discussed security issues in the Middle East and North Africa. They included, in particular, the fight against international terrorism and resolving the crisis in Libya. Veteran military commander Haftar, the most powerful figure in eastern Libya, returned to Benghazi on April 26 after a two-week absence during which he reportedly received medical treatment in Paris.
