Iran might withdraw from the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) if US President Donald Trump scraps the nuclear deal Tehran and world powers signed in 2015, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said on Tuesday. Ali Shamkhani told reporters in Tehran that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran was ready for some “surprising actions” if the nuclear deal was scrapped. Shamkhani made the statement before departing for Russia, Reuters said. Answering a question about the possibility of Tehran withdrawing from the NPT, the official said that this is one of three options that Tehran is considering.
