South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Thursday that his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong-un isn’t asking for the withdrawal of US troops from the Korean Peninsula as a precondition for abandoning his nuclear weapons, AP reported. This would seem to remove a major sticking point to a potential nuclear disarmament deal. Moon said the North still wants the United States to end its “hostile” policy and offer security guarantees. Pyongyang has previously linked “hostility” to the US troops in South Korea. Moon and Kim are expected to meet next week, and Kim is to meet US President Donald Trump sometime in May or June.
