Afghan and Pakistani troops clashed near the disputed border between the two countries on Sunday. The fighting left two Pakistani soldiers killed and five others wounded.
The Pakistani military confirmed the casualties, saying that its border guards were “fired upon from the Afghanistan side” during a routine surveillance mission. Afghan police said that force was used after the Pakistani troops illegally crossed the border. There’s currently no information about the death toll on the Afghani side. Clashes are frequent in the area as Afghanistan doesn’t recognize the 2,400-kilometer Durand Line (drawn by Britain in 1896) as its international border with Pakistan.
